That game was a scheduled loss in my eyes, and the boys did better than I expected tbh.

Sucks to lose at such an important time, but we have 3 winnable games coming up, including a 4 point night against Arizona.

This upcoming week is pivotal. Win all 3, and Sharks beat MIN, and we've made up some ground overall compared to where we were a week ago. Get a little more luck, and we'll have made up a lot of ground.

Realistic best case scenario (3 straight wins but every other team wins -when possible- too): we're 4 points out next Saturday with 11 games to play.

RBCS + some luck: 2 points out.

Mathematical BCS: We're in the final wildcard.

4 point night? Please explain.

Meaning we win and get 2 points and Arizona gets none

Ah I see. Thanks m8! Good call!

It's such a tough spot because there's absolutely no breathing room whatsoever AND we need other WC teams to lose.

I want to believe but I know I'll likely get let down again hehe

We're not going to make the playoffs.

But enjoy riding the whispers that we might just.

That's my attitude.

We're close enough that it's fun, but far enough out that I know the chances are really really bad.

It's like we're not dreaming about winning the Lotto 649 because that's ridiculous.

But we are dreaming about winning the office raffle cause you never know.

And if we have a week of stupidly good luck, suddenly we're having serious talks about the first round.

I am glad for meaningful games in March. Usually we'd write the season off in January or even December.

We only need 34 pts to clinch playoffs!

So you're saying we only need 34/28 points down the stretch to clinch?

I think we can do it.

It goes down every time a wildcard team loses

Man, last night kind of took some of the wind out of my hopeful sails

Ehn... that was the only game I had penciled as a loss.

I don't really have high hopes for the Flames game either... but I can't in good faith assume we're going to lose to the Flames, ever. And it's the last game of the season, so if our playoff hopes were riding on that game, you can't really assume anything at that point.

Next 2 games are against basement teams, should be very winnable. Then the 4 after that are lower ranked playoff teams or bubble teams. Then a game against Ottawa.

So we need to try and get back onto a win-streak, 7 games in a row is the plan. That should be enough to have us within 2 points of the line before the end of the month.

Can’t wait for the glorious meltdown by Toronto media when they lose again in the first round to Boston.

level 2

Possibly true. But I think making the playoffs is better than not 🤷‍♂️

Fuck I hate playing the leafs. Idiotic fanbase, egotistical players, and on top of that they literally think matthews could literally ever be better than McJesus 😂. Seriously, fuck the leafs and anyone who cheers for them

They also believe he desperately wants to leave Edmonton and go play for them

At this point I imagine Bob Nicholson's interviewing process goes something like this:

What do you think of Kevin Lowe as a hockey player?

What do you think of Kevin Lowe as a hockey GM?

What do you think of Kevin Lowe as a person?

How would you feel receiving front office advice from Kevin Lowe?

How would you feel if this happened in a regular basis hypothetically speaking of course 😉

How would you feel players from the great 80s dynasty plus Scott Howson kept tabs on you and report to Darryl Katz himself?

1 hour later

Katz: So how did it go?

Nicholson: Terrible, he didn't want to want to fit in with our culture and probably hates living in Edmonton.

Honestly though... I can help but gag when I drink the tap water here.
