The Edmonton Oilers are well positioned to grab the player they will have ranked fourth-to-sixth on their overall prospect list in the 2019 draft.

There are two forwards, Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko, at the very top of the 2019 NHL entry draft, as well as one defenceman Bowen Byram.

Hughes, Kaapo and Byram are the Big Three of this draft.

But right after them come the Super Seven, a group of seven forwards whom the various scouting services all rate highly, though there’s no full consensus on which of the seven is best. In fact, while most scouts have Podkolzin highest and Krebs lowest, there’s plenty of disagreement overall, and even the same scouting services constantly change their own order on which of the players is best.

The Super Seven are Vasili Podkolzin, Dylan Cozens, Alex Turcotte, Kirby Dach, Trevor Zegras, Matthew Boldy and Peyton Krebs. They are all rated significantly higher at this point than other players in the 2019 draft, so teams drafting from 1-to-10 are all getting prospects deemed to be a cut above the next grouping of players.

Drafting in the eighth spot overall, it’s likely Edmonton Oilers will get the player they rate first, second or third most highly out of those Super Seven forwards. This is excellent news, as the Oilers can use a top forward or two in the system.

Here’s what the scouts say about the Super Seven:

It's Monday! That means we get to talk about all the hockey stuff that isn't (or is) related to the Oilers.
